Will a big event take place in Russia following an astrological sign?

There appears to be a astrological connection between what happens in Russia and the Saturn-Neptune conjunctions, which will again happen on February 20, 2026.

The Pugachev Rebellion took place around a Saturn-Neptune conjunction

In 1773, Russia was dominated by the outbreak of the Pugachev Rebellion (1773–1775), the largest peasant revolt in Russian history, which severely threatened the reign of Empress Catherine the Great – destruction (Saturn) of long-term security (Neptune) – this Saturn-Neptune conjuinction took place in Virgo, mutable earth, so the peasants were no longer complacent…

What does Saturn - Neptune mean?

The upcoming Saturn-Neptune conjunction on February 20 offers an opportunity to study the combined astrological symbolism of Saturn and Neptune. We can learn by looking at what happens to Russia during a Saturn-Neptune conjunction.

Russia has the largest land area of all countries, about 11 percent of the Earth’s land mass, or 17 million square kilometers. It’s common knowledge that Neptune rules the sea and water – but, “land” would not be far behind.

Among its many rulerships, Neptune rules long-term security, stability and peacefulness at home, anything that comes from the ground, such as minerals, oil and food. Neptune rules longevity, safe passage and all long-term assets, including inheritances, and long-term financial security. Neptune has dominion over morals, ethics and ethical behavior and standards.

So when you think about these qualities, it’s not far-fetched to say you would want this in a nation, the land where you live. Russia is also called the Mother Land. A strong Neptune – especially in harmony with Venus or Chiron, can be interpreted as favorable for gains related to land.

We've already seen what happened during the 1773 conjunction - now let's continue exploring...

The 1809 Conjunction

In 1809, the Russian Empire primarily focused on securing its victory in the Finnish War against Sweden, resulting in the acquisition of Finland and its establishment as an autonomous Grand Duchy. This was a major strategic success for Tsar Alexander I, who was allied with Napoleon at the time – dominance and control (Saturn) of long-term assets (Neptune) – this conjunction took place in Sagittarius, fiery expansiveness.

The 1846 Conjunction

In 1846, the late blight potato disease spread from the Baltic provinces into the Russian Empire, including St. Petersburg and Finland. This blight, which destroyed crops and caused widespread famine across Europe, severely impacted Russian agricultural production and delayed the widespread adoption of potato cultivation for at least a decade – tragedy and shortage (Saturn) of food (Neptune) – this took place in Aquarius, a massive disruption.

The 1882 Conjunction

In 1882, the May Laws forced large numbers of Jews into leaving Russia

In 1882, Russia under Tsar Alexander III enforced reactionary policies, including the May Laws, which severely restricted Jewish life and triggered mass emigration. Following 1881's assassination of Alexander II, the government implemented strict censorship, tightened control over peasants via Land Commandants, and intensified anti-Semitic pogroms – tragedy and dominance (Saturn) around long-term security, safe passage, inheritances and ethics (Neptune) – this conjunction took place in Taurus, money, valuables and land.

The 1917 Conjunction

1917 was the year of the Russian Revolution
1917 was the year of the Russian Revolution

In 1917, Russia underwent two revolutions, collapsing the Romanov dynasty and establishing the world's first communist state. The February Revolution forced Tsar Nicholas II to abdicate, replaced by a weak Provisional Government. In October, Vladimir Lenin's Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd, promising "peace, land, and bread," triggering a civil war – breaking apart (Saturn) of long-term security (Neptune) with the loss (Saturn) of health and peace (Neptune) as a result – this conjunction took place in Leo, new and dominant leadership and ideals.

The 1953 Conjunction

In 1953, the Soviet Union underwent a major, immediate transition following the death of longtime leader Joseph Stalin on March 5, triggering a intense power struggle and the beginning of the "Khrushchev Thaw". Key events included the rise of Nikita Khrushchev as First Secretary, the execution of security chief Lavrentiy Beria, and the detonation of the first Soviet hydrogen bomb – the destruction (Saturn) of long-term morals and ethics, such as it was (Neptune). And the long-term (Neptune) expansion of what is harmful (Saturn). The control (Saturn) of possessions and food (Neptune) – these three conjunctions took place in Libra – breaking out (Aries) from the established order and “polite society” (Libra).

The 1989 Conjunction

The revolutionary year of 1989 is most closely associated with the fall of communism in Eastern Europe. But inside the Soviet Union itself, particularly in its Russian republic, the year was also the high-water mark of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev's era of perestroika and glasnost – this was the breaking apart (Saturn) of the existing and long-term (Neptune) control system (Saturn) – these three conjunctions took place in Capricorn, with the traditional structure being dismantled and falling by the wayside.

The 20 February 2026 Conjunction

What do you think will happen as a result of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction, which takes place in 0:45 Aries and could suggest aggressive (Aries) control (Saturn) of land (Neptune)?
