The Magi Astrology of the Death Cap Woman
Australia's convicted mass murderer Erin Patterson was known for being smart and witty, but she's no Miss Marple and she has been described as "exceedingly creepy". She's reportedly also suffered from a weight problem most of her life - so we're being nice and depicting her as skinny in this image as few people are nice to her at the moment.
Obsession and unfulfilled potential
Erin was born with a tight Sun-Pluto conjunction that had a Jupiter-and-Juno conjunction aspecting it by bi-directional quincunx. This is actually quite a good alignment, even if Pluto can be dominant, obsessive and down-right abusive - and Juno can be deceptive. However, the positive potentials are ground into the dirt by the rest of the actors in this alignment: Sedna, Varuna and the Jupiter/Sedna and Saturn/Chiron midpoints. Together, they poison an otherwise nice Beef Wellington.
Erin Patterson was obsessive (Pluto) and deceptive (Juno) and she had power ambitions (Jupiter and Pluto) - but Sedna adds in domination, lies and immorality while the Saturn/Chiron midpoints contributes noteworthy destruction, an unhappy marriage and family life - and the potential for narcissism. The Jupiter/Sedna midpoint, which is in close aspect to both the Sun and Pluto, brings in unfulfilled ambitions and a downfall due to corruption and immorality. Then Varuna comes in and makes the whole thing "excessive," just for good measure. A little more mushroom powder anyone?
Putting the unfulfilled potential into play
On the day of the murders, there was a telling alignment in the sky that aligned with the devious and unfulfilled potential described above: It was a day (Sun) of excessive (Varuna) destructive (Saturn) strategy (Pallas). Note that both Varuna are part of this dynamic - there's quite a bit of "excess" in solving family arguments via the mass murder strategy.
An unfriendly friend
What we read about Erin Patterson means we're not likely to think of her as a very nice person - and that is all explained by the Saturn-Vesta trine in her chart, which symbolizes restricted or controlling (Saturn) friendship and popularity (Vesta).
Erin's poison party
On the day of the murders Erin deceived (Juno) her friends (Vesta) tragically (Saturn) - note that the Juno to Vesta transit takes place in the declinations also - Deceptive Friendship to the power of three. Erin was working a deceptive (Juno) life-and-death (Chiron) tragedy (Saturn) of maliciousness and heartlessness (Saturn/Sedna midpoint) on her "friends" (Vesta).
Destructive ambition turns into mass murder
In her natal astrology, Erin has a "singleton" Lilith-Mars sextile. Singleton aspects, where only two planets are involved, can be problematic in that they have less potential for outlet and integration than a three-planet aspect might have. The more planets are involved in an aspect structure, the wide the scope for interpretation and implementation. This aspect can represent destructive (Lilith) anger (Mars).
Anger and mass murder
On the day of the murders, transiting Mars, Ceres and Xanthus were aspecting Erin's Lilith-Mars alignment. She took accelerated (Ceres) demonic (Lilith) action (Mars) and committed mass murder (Xanthus). I mean, there must be so much demonic rage present to be able to calmly cook and murder her family acquaintances by giving them food in a friendly setting.
Life-and-death, demons and murder
In the heliocentric astrology, Erin Patterson has an alignment between Lilith, Chiron and Xanthus. While Chiron is an overwhelmingly positive planet, one of its possible meanings is "life-and-death" and in this case, that meaning combined with the demonic behavior of the asteroid Lilith and the mass murder potential of Xanthus.
The fateful meal
On the day of the murderous meal, Uranus (fame and change) teamed up with the Saturn/Earth and the Mercury/Pluto midpoints to deliver both fame and change to Erin Patterson's life (Chiron). Demonic (Lilith) family (Chiron) murder (Xanthus) came from obsessive desires (Mercury/Pluto) and her desire for control and dominance over others (Saturn/Earth). You could say that her plan to attain liberation (Uranus) backfired.
