Our Shadow Self is the most important actor of the Aquarian Age

The Brighter the Sun - the Darker the Shadow

The chaos of the Aquarian Shadow has already slapped a rotten Piscean cod right across our face – and we’ve only experienced a fraction of the Aquarian Age thus far. It’s going to get much worse – and here we’ll explore how we might survive the onslaught.

In the 70s musical Hair, adorable hippies sang about the Aquarian Age as a miracle of brotherhood, sisterhood and freedom – but they also sang “when the Moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars”.

Apart from revealing some dark Piscean stuff, so far the Aquarian Age’s major claim to fame is that baloney is broadcast much faster.

Themes of Aquarius: The Sun and Uranus

But let’s back up a bit, we are now in the Aquarian Age, the polarity of Leo and Aquarius, which are ruled by the Sun and Uranus respectively. By understanding the symbolisms of the Sun and Uranus, figuring out how they might play off against each other, we can learn what to expect of this Age.

The Sun if fairly easy, it’s going to be shining, not shining or shining too brightly – and also shining in order to hide stuff, in particular its Shadow.

Uranus is a bigger fish to fry, pardon the pun, with a wide range of meanings. Uranus rules freedom and independence, change, the news and mass media, technology, astrology and anything that is revolutionary. Uranus rules being recognized, politics and politicians, inventions, aviation and space travel. Fame, the public and the broadcasting industry are all ruled by Uranus; in fact, industry as a whole is also ruled by Uranus, as is being massive, worldwide and global in nature. Uranus rules balance, eye-hand coordination and depth perception – overlapping with Mercury in these areas.

We abandon our Solar Self at great risk

Surviving the manifestations of the Aquarian Age

By understanding how the Sun and Uranus can contrast and blend, in true or denied forms, we increase our potential of surviving in the Aquarian Age.

Here we’ll look at some common manifestations of these energies:

  • We have independent (Uranus), internet-driven (Uranus) media (Uranus) exposing (Uranus) the Shadow (Sun) of famous people and politicians (Uranus). The Piscean Age supported hiding much of what is now getting revealed.

  • Artificial Intelligence (Uranus) enhances or threatens our creative self (Sun).

  • Narcissists (Sun) are having a field day with possibility of instant fame (Uranus) and global reach (Uranus) thanks to the internet (Uranus). But just as we’re getting tired of “AI slop” videos, so, too, are people cottoning on to narcissists. If you have a gaping hole where your authentic self is supposed to be, then you have a gaping hole where you authentic self is supposed to be.

  • Unfulfilled people (Sun) are vulnerable to promises of being liberated with instant love and riches (Uranus), jumping on unstable schemes (Uranus) that lead to personal (Sun) breakdowns (Uranus).  Individuation (Uranus) is best done via baby steps and by letting the liberation work from the inside (Sun) out, not from the outside in.

  • Even more unfulfilled people (Sun) are being contrary (Uranus) for the sake of it, rebelling against all forms of male leadership (Sun) creating chaos (Uranus) in politics (Uranus) and global identity (Sun). Feminists are no longer safe-guarding the wellbeing of women and revolutionaries who do not seek freedom and liberation are oppressors.

  • Shadowy figures (Sun) use the internet (Uranus) to promote (Uranus) meme coins, NFTs and the latest crypto currency (Uranus) as a route to freedom and recognition (Uranus) – but if it truly were, would they not keep quiet about it and milk it themselves?  This is the victim’s Shadow playing hide-and-seek with their identity, coming home as an externalized projection.

  • What other manifestations do you see?

How can we protect ourselves?

The first step would be to stay away from meme coins, crypto influencers and Nigerian scammers – easier said than done, you say? Yes, there’s a huge market for scammers and this way of making money is unlikely to end anytime soon.

There’s obviously a hidden factor that draws us into falling for these scams, be they romantic, financial or even “religious”. This is the desire for belonging, denied and held in our Shadow – and reflected by shadowy characters in Nigeria.

We must stop “outsourcing ourselves” – instead we need to allow what light we have to slowly and consciously liberate our Shadow. This includes asking God or the Universe for help. If you’re trying to battle your Shadow head-on with control efforts, there will be only one winner – and it won’t be you.

Gratitude leads to appreciation, which leads to more gratitude
A commonly denied emotion is Gratitude

There are many emotions that are routinely ignored or denied for various reasons – and they include anger, fear, grief and sadness – but one that’s often overlooked is gratitude. In our current, hard-nosed society it’s considered uncool to be grateful – and by “grateful” I don’t mean pumping out the better-than-you, so-so-accomplished and sophisticated Instagram posts that see us sitting at the top of the world. Boasting is not gratitude.

Such posts are generated by denied non-gratitude.

The problem with non-gratitude is it pushes us to scout for bigger-and-better things constantly. It can be masked as an eternal quest for “improvement”. The forsaken part of us that wants to be acknowledged for what it has achieved and for what it has in the Now, is yet again ignored.

A Leo (Sun) who isn’t adored or appreciated soon falls into a deep depression. This is an important mirror for our Aquarian Age.

There’s so much technology, fame, entertainment, and excitement (Uranus) to be had “out there” in the big world (Uranus) that we forget relating to the Self (Sun).

And again, I am not talking about the ever-improving (Uranus) Self (Sun) that’s being put through its paces at the gym or the beauty salon for the sake of change (Uranus).

Not the Self that needs to constantly improve.

And if you're having a heard time learning about your true Self, start by engaging with your Shadow, where you'll find a wealth of information and energy.
