THE POLICE – Sting versus Stewart Copeland astrology

Here we take a look at the astrology of musicians Stewart Copeland and Sting, both member of the super-successful band The Police. The pair found it increasingly difficult to work together, but created incredible music. The Police disbanded at its peak. What the astrology reveals is the band could have called itself The Clash, had the name not already been taken.
The Police forged a slow groove and driving pulse beautifully, but it could only last so long.
Sting's Natal Astrology
Sting has several alignments that contribute to his musicality. Here are some of them.
Money, art and composition
In the declinations, Sting has an alignment between Venus, Neptune and Pallas – this can be interpreted as making money (Venus and Neptune) by composing (Pallas) and putting together (Venus) art including music (Neptune).

Charismatic, driving compositions and singing
Sting has a Magi Quad where his Mars-Pallas quincunx lines up with his Mercury-Chiron square. A Magi Quad is created when there are parallel lines like these: a Magi Quads is the conjunction of the midpoints created by the two pairings.
This one can be interpreted as a charismatic career (Chiron) as a singer and musician (Mercury) and a driving and energetic (Mars) composer (Pallas). It also suggests a noteworthy and charismatic (Chiron) rustic (Mars) voice (Mercury) that is used in an intelligent manner (Pallas). Magi Quads are important for professional abilities.

Charismatic Popularity
In the declinations, Sting has a Chiron-Vesta contraparallel that symbolizes charismatic (Chiron) popularity and congeniality (Vesta). He’s the kinds of guy many blokes could imagine as a friend.

Person of Control and Ambition
Sting’s Sun-Saturn conjunction makes him a determined and dominant person and Juno adds dreams and fantasy.

Charismatic and popular singer – Heliocentric
In the heliocentric astrology, we see he's a charismatic (Chiron) and popular (Vesta) singer and musician (Mercury).

Stewart Copeland’s natal astrology
Now we will look at drummer Stewart Copeland’s astrology to inspect his musical talent. For him, Pallas and Saturn will be extra important as Pallas rules logical sequencing, coordination and musical compositions with Saturn ruling structure, control and science.
Energetic and charismatic drummer
We find a tight and powerful alignment between Saturn, Pallas, Mars and Chiron. Because there’s the positive Pallas-Mars quincunx we can just add in Chiron and Saturn as positives. We get: charismatic, energetic and scientific drummer. Note that there’s a parallel between Chiron and Mars in the declinations. Copeland is fond of saying “I just bang things” and Chiron-Mars provides this charismatic energy.

Powerful and charismatic musician
Copeland is a powerful (Pluto) communicator and musician (Mercury). Neptune adds general creativity and Juno adds on-stage-charisma and also the tendency to operate outside the rules, fantasy and changeability.

Popular and energetic drummer
In the heliocentric chart we have a Mystical Triangle created by Pallas, Mars and Pluto, which symbolizes powerful (Pluto) and energetic (Mars) drumming (Pallas). Pluto can also elevate skills. We then add in the creativity of Neptune and the popularity of Vesta. Note the Neptune-Pallas parallel, which adds more creativity as a drummer as well as sensitivity.

Sting and Copeland synastry
In Magi Astrology we use a CAC - Combined Alignment Chart - to see the interaspects between the two parties. As usual, the chart lets us see the degrees and the angles. We are not too worried about signs and houses, which is what mainstream astrology normally focuses on.
The Nuclear Clash and the Heartbreak Clash
In Magi Astrology, Saturn-Jupiter aspects are considered so bad that even the conjunction and trine comes with large warning signs – and when it comes to clashes they are far worse.
The Saturn-Jupiter Nuclear Clash is closely followed by the Saturn-Chiron Heartbreak Clash when it comes to severity – and both these horrendous clashes are present in the Sting-Copeland synastry.

Note that Sting’s Saturn is in too low degrees to join the Saturn-Jupiter alignment, but that it is square to Copeland’s Chiron.
The dominant personality of Sting, represented by his Sun-Saturn conjunction, hits Copeland’s sensitive Chiron right between the eyes. This is the Heartbreak clash.
But of course Copeland could fight back, amping up his own Saturn, which is exactly opposing Sting’s idealistic and positive Jupiter, thereby restricting him.
His Saturn is also contra-parallel Sting’s Jupiter. Hence there are two Nuclear Clashes where Copeland contributes Saturn.
The clash energy in these alignments is off the charts: the Saturn-Jupiter opposition is exact to within one day and the Saturn-Chiron clash is exact to within nine days.
Commercialization and Popularity
Copeland’s Sun and Vesta interacts positively with Sting’s charismatic-driving-compositions-and-song alignment, creating a Grand Trine that speaks of commercial (Ceres) music (Mercury) and compositions (Pallas). Copeland asked Sting to join his band called The Police. Thus Copeland extended the commercial potential (Ceres) and popularity opportunity (Vesta) to Sting.

Heliocentric Nuclear Clash in The Police astrology
Sting has an “almost” alignment between his heliocentric Mars, Saturn and Chiron. The orb between his Saturn and Chiron is separating and too wide for the square to count.
However, when we add in Copeland’s Jupiter we get a Fortress that has the very positive Jupiter-Chiron trine, symbolizing successful business and a great earning ability. Together, the pair can put energy (Mars) and discipline (Saturn) into the venture and make lots of money. There can also be notable (Chiron) arguments (Mars) from the Nuclear Clash in this structure.

Commercial Compositions
In the heliocentric CAC we find another Fortress, Sting’s Pallas and Ceres combine with Copeland’s Saturn and Uranus. We get: the ability to move large audiences (Saturn-Uranus) with commercially viable compositions (Pallas-Ceres). However, the inherent Saturn-Ceres clash is another bad one that generates a permanent dissatisfaction.

Conclusion - Sting and Stewart Copeland
Magi Astrology is remarkably consistent and it comes as no surprise that both the Nuclear and the Heartbreak clashes are present in the synastry between Sting and Stewart Copeland. We thank our lucky stars that The Police stayed together as long as they did.
